Grafting Options for OATS® Donor Sites

Alan M. Hirahara, MD, (Sacramento, CA) reviews options for treating a cartilage donor site during an OATS procedure. The use of StimuBlast™ for filling OATS donor sites provides an easy to use, off the shelf, room temperature stored DBM rich in BMPs and growth factors. Dr. Hirahara also demonstrates the use of sterile allograft backfill plugs to fill the donor site. These plugs contain a cartilage cap and cortical and cancellous bone to completely fill the bony void created during the harvesting procedure. Arthrex PRP can be used to mix within the DBM or allograft backfill plug to add autologous growth factors which may be beneficial for bone healing.
