AC Joint Stabilization With InternalBrace™ Ligament Augmentation Repair

Gordon Mackay, MD (Glasgow, Scotland), demonstrates his technique for augmenting an acromioclavicular repair with the InternalBrace™ system, which consists of a 3.5 mm BioComposite SwiveLock® anchor, a 4.75 mm BioComposite SwiveLock anchor, and FiberTape® suture suspended anteriorly over the acromion and distal clavicle. AC InternalBrace™ ligament augmentation repair is used in conjunction with coracoclavicular ligament fixation and provides posterior and rotational stabilization of the AC joint.

The InternalBrace surgical technique is intended only to augment the primary repair/reconstruction by expanding the area of tissue approximation during the healing period and is not intended as a replacement for the native ligament. The InternalBrace technique is for use during soft tissue-to-bone fixation procedures and is not cleared for bone-to-bone fixation.
